As a Naturopathic Doctor I have the opportunity to not only listen to health stories but also relationship stories. These relationship stories always interest me because they tell me so much about my patients' emotional health that almost always impacts their physical health. I have learned through careful observation that the perception of feeling loved and the ability to give love are two variables that heavily contribute to emotional well-being.
If you've ever been in love or are in love, you know that there is this power that is packaged along with that love. You feel unstoppable. You feel secure. You feel supported. You feel whole. Feeling loved is crucial to emotional well-being. However, if these same people don't know how to give the kind of love they receive, their relationships suffer. I've learned that for emotional health both are necessary.
How can you achieve both? You must be able to perceive and communicate how you feel loved and how others around you feel loved. It is then and only then that you will be able to positively contribute to your happiness and a loved one's sense of happiness.
There is a tool I recently came across through Barry Demp's daily quotes. It is called the Five Love Languages. This resource gives you an abundant of information & free assessments to help you better perceive and communicate love.
Isn't that cool? We can increase our happiness with just a little perception! Happy Valentine's Day!
Be Radiant,
