Michigan weather this winter has been anything but typical. We've gotten many typical days of winter intermixed with seemingly Fall/Spring-like days. Today I want to share three teas you can brew at home to give your immune system a boost and prevent against colds & flus this season.
(1) Echinacea Tea
Echinacea is one of my favorite go-to herb both for active colds/flus and as a preventative. Echinacea has properties that fight bacteria/viruses, decrease inflammation, and relieve pain.
(2) Rose hip tea
Rose hips are packed with Vitamin C which is a potent antioxidant. And antioxidants are awesome because they help your immune system better fight bacteria & viruses!
Fun fact: Did you know that rose hips contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges & that they contain a high amount of vitamin A making it also a popular ingredient in skin care products?
(3) Licorice root tea
Licorice root is used in many of my botanical formulas because it tastes great & it is used for a wide variety of ailments. Licorice root keeps the immune system strong because it has properties that fight bacteria/viruses and help the body adapt to stressors.
Fun fact: Did you know that most licorice candies actually do not contain any real licorice? In fact, many of them are flavored with anise & fennel.
